Republicans are all cowards and hypocrites. Every GOP politician is fully aware of the facts surrounding Trump’s illegitimate presidency. Although Washington refused to fully investigate the 2016 election, there is a preponderance of circumstantial evidence which proves that Trump and his campaign staff colluded with Russia to win the Electoral College.
The Mueller report, combined with common knowledge, reveals that Trump attempted to obstruct justice on nearly two-dozen occasions. During the impeachment hearings Trump’s responses were undoubtedly direct crimes of witness intimidation.
Trump’s violations of the Emoluments Clause are numerous. He has been using his position to increase foreign business interests and his personal wealth.
All of these facts are crimes and subject to impeachment.
After Trump is impeached in the House, the evidence is handed to the senate, who will hold a trial. The word from Republican leadership is that it will be a “kangaroo court;” Trump will be acquitted before the trial begins.
The evidence must be presented by the Senate Ethics Committee. The current Chairman of that committee is Johnny Isakson, a Republican from Georgia. Isakson will retire in one month. This creates a huge problem for Moscow Mitch McConnell. Every Republican senator who has been considered as a replacement for Isakson offered the definitive answer; “no.”
Moscow Mitch lied as usual and said: “It’s an honor to do it, and if asked, they ought to,” he said.
The truth is that whoever becomes the Chairman will likely be committing political suicide. If she or he has a part in the outcome, and they will, and Trump is acquitted Independents and Democrats will be furious if the evidence points in the opposite direction. If a miracle occurs and Republicans perform the job for which they were elected, and Trump is removed from office, she or he will become a pariah within the Republican Party.
“Uh, I’m going to say probably not,” said Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), a member of GOP leadership, laughing when asked if she would like to chair the committee. “I don’t think that’s a sought after position.”
Sen. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.), another member of leadership, said he doesn’t know who will take over the committee. Asked if he was interested, he added an emphatic, drawn out, “nooooo.”
Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas), who previously served as vice chairman, acknowledged that it’s up to the leader, but he’s not interested.
“I served my time on the Ethics Committee and I think I’ll give somebody else the opportunity,” he said.
Armed Services Committee Chairman James Inhofe (R-Okla.) said he would rather undergo a dental procedure.
“Are you kidding? Are you kidding? I’d rather have a root canal,” he said.
Now for the irrefutable truth; Republicans lack the cojones to do the right thing for America. These mostly old, white men, will never find the courage to convict the worst, illegitimate president in American history. Trump will remain your illegitimate president on November 3, 2020. Now it’s up to us.
All women and men who love their country must vote. We can defeat the party which has become the enemy of the United States of America. Trump and his hypocritical party must be removed from office and replaced with women and men who will serve all Americans and lead us forward into the 21st century. We, the people, can win the second American Revolution.
