If you are an American, and therefore not an avid Trump supporter, you believe that Trump’s trial in the senate should be fair and impartial. The jury is composed of 100 men and women who were elected by the American people. They are commanded by their oaths of office to “preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States.” Article one of the Constitution demands that each senator take his or her duty seriously. Their can be no preconceived convictions for what is the most serious process ever held in the senate.
53 Republican senators are violating their oaths and therefore the Constitution. Led by Moscow Mitch McConnell, who told the press that “he was not impartial,” and would take any means to acquit Donald John Trump, Republicans are ignoring the evidence which forced impeachment in the House. Rand Paul, Lindsey Graham, Moscow Mitch and most Republican senators are refusing to allow witnesses to testify. The truth is that without the testimony of men and women with firsthand knowledge of the event which forced impeachment, Trump will not receive a fair trial.
Although I’m positive that very few Americans are paying close attention to the events in Washington, a recent poll reveals that 75 percent of voters disagree with Moscow Mitch’s efforts to cover-up the truth; and not allowing witnesses is ‘covering up the truth.’
“There may be heated debate among lawmakers about whether witnesses should testify at the impeachment trial of President Trump, but it’s a different story outside the Beltway. Three-quarters of American voters say witnesses should be allowed to testify, and that includes nearly half of Republican voters,” said Quinnipiac University Poll Analyst Mary Snow in the polling memo.
The poll revealed that 49 percent of Republicans; 95 percent of Democrats; and 75 percent of Independents believe that the trial should be fair and all aspects of any other trial should apply.
Republicans have created a farce. Trump’s defense team’s only claim is literally; “he did it but he’s above the law.”
Republicans know that removing Trump from office is the right thing to do; but why should they start now?
