Trump began lying with his first breath on June 14, 1946, but he hasn’t become any better at it since he was five years old. In October of 2014 the orange child tweeted a complaint about President Obama taking a day off to play a round of golf.
“Can you believe that, with all of the problems and difficulties facing the U.S., President Obama spent the day playing golf. Worse than Carter.”
It’s true that when a president takes time off for vacations or a day of relaxation, taxpayers pay for that time. Just one example alone reveals how expensive this is for American taxpayers. Operating Air Force One costs taxpayers over $200,000 per hour. Add in the cost of secret service protection, local and state fees and it is very expensive each time the man in the White House chooses to hit a little white ball around a field of grass.
Over two terms, eight years, in office, President Obama played 306 rounds of golf. In just over three years Trump has played golf 158 times; one out of every five days. Obama took less vacation days than Ronald Reagan, Bush 41, and Bush 43. Trump is on pace to quadruple the number of vacation days Obama took in eight years in just one-half of that time.
In 2016, Trump told a campaign crowd: “If I win, I may never see my property — I may never see these places again. But because I’m going to be working for you, I’m not going to have time to go golfing, believe me. Believe me. Believe me, folks.”
First a fact: Trump’s “workday schedule” in the Oval Office averages three hours or less each day. A week ago Monday, the only scheduled event for the entire day was lunch with Mike Pence. The orange child is living a billionaire’s life at taxpayer expense.
Here is the latest total of days so far Trump has partied, and a portion of the costs to American taxpayers. As of this day, Trump has personally spent more than 130 million dollars. This does not include the cost incurred by Jared, Ivanka, Donny Jr., or Eric.
Days Trump has spent at Mar a Lago: 123
Cost of flights to Mar a Lago (29 so far): $57,568,000
Days Trump has spent at Bedminster: 75
Cost of flights to Bedminster (23 so far): $18,375,500
Trump has visited his clubs once every this many days since his inauguration: 4.6
Projected visits to golf clubs in four years: 316
Projected visits in eight years: 633
These figures do not include the cost of his hate rallies which average two each month. With a basic cost of $200,000 per hour, and a minimum of three hours for operating Air Force One, this adds at least 44.4 million dollars to Trump’s wasteful spending.
Last year Trump added 1.2 trillion dollars to the national debt. Most of this unacceptable number is the result of Trump’s failed fiscal policies, but his personal waste of treasury funds has contributed enormously to this unforgivable number.
In August of 2011, Trump tweeted: “@BarackObama played golf yesterday. Now he heads to a 10 day vacation in Martha’s Vineyard. Nice work ethic.”
Mr. Obama’s average workday was over 12 hours long.
Trump has no work ethic, and his White House schedule proves it. This is a man who never worked an eight-hour day in his life, and never will until he is in a federal prison washing sheets or serving food to his fellow inmates.
(By the way: those who have played golf with Trump claim he is the “biggest cheat ever to swing a golf club.)
