The late-night comics sometimes become desperate. They have been laughing at the large number of Democratic candidates for months. They easily forget that in 2016 there were 17 candidates in the Republican “clown car.” Only one was qualified to be our president, and the least qualified of them all became our 45th president with a great deal of help from Russia and the mainstream media.
In case you don’t remember, here is the list: Trump, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Ben Carson, Jeb Bush, Jim Gilmore, Chris Christie, Carla Fiorina, Rick Santorum, Rand Paul, Mike Huckabee, George Pataki, Lindsey Graham, Bobby Jindal, Scott Walker, Rick Perry, and the one qualified candidate, Ohio Governor John Kasich.
Television personalities have obviously forgotten that the Republican “debates” were nothing more than a series of personal attacks; no issues were ever discussed. Trump would verbally assault his rivals, and they would attempt to counterattack. It was ugly and one by one we learned that 16 of these fools were unfit to lead our nation.
Ted Cruz is a TEA Party extremist who was the first to declare his candidacy in March of 2015. His reputation as the “most hated senator in Washington” was well deserved. He constantly repeated instructions from his billionaire supporters, including Robert Mercer. However, he was so unlikable his campaign failed and he was crushed in the primaries.
Marco Rubio was so rattled by Trump’s constant insults, his rhetoric became jumbled and any ‘charisma’ he might have had disappeared. His sub-standard intellect force Rubio to miss more votes in the senate than any other candidate. He needed additional time to prepare for the “debates.”
Jeb Bush was originally considered to be the front runner. However, he also fell into Trump’s gambit and was unable to defend himself against Trump’s insults and accusations. He quickly lost favor with Republican voters.
Rand Paul lacked personality. The “moderators” at the debates virtually ignored him. He obviously had nothing to offer America and lasted for only a few months before withdrawing.
Mike Huckabee’s religious extremism and bias against non-Christians made him a very unpopular candidate.
I found it unbelievable that the others considered the possibility that they could be our nation’s president. Then there was John Kasich.
Governor Kasich made multiple efforts to make the debates about the issues, but Trump manipulated the others into an event based on personalities. Trump was fully aware that he knew nothing about anything in Washington, and played another con on his adversaries.
The fact that Trump won the nomination speaks volumes. He did not defeat his opponents, they defeated themselves. They lacked the intelligence to understand that forcing Trump to answer questions before the American people would have proven that he was and remains unfit to lead our nation.
Here we are today. Last night there were seven Democratic candidates on the debate stage in South Carolina. It was a heated debate, but it was a legitimate debate. Their differences on the issues became apparent, and they only varied from those subjects when character and past history on the issues were placed into the mix.
The truth is that with Bernie Sanders winning the first three contests of 2020, the other candidates are becoming fearful that if Bernie also wins South Carolina, their campaigns are over.
Although the latest polls show Biden maintaining a lead, Bernie has been closing the gap in South Carolina. At one time Biden held a 28-point advantage; today it is only five.
Bernie’s rallies are involved with the issues most important to the American people; and we are listening. He is the opposite of Trump. Bernie is a patriot who believes that all of the American people deserve representation in the White House. His condemnation of the fact that the super-rich are only interested in making more money and are the employers of the Republican Party are based on fact and history.
The right-wing propaganda machine, Fox Noise, is attempting to discredit the senator by falsely labeling him a “communist.” The truth is that Bernie supports the efforts of the “people’s president,” Franklin D. Roosevelt. It was FDR who began social programs which benefitted the majority and our nation.
