Meghan McCain is one of the hosts of “The View.” More importantly, she is the daughter of the late John McCain, one of the last two Republicans left in Washington in the 21st century.
As the ‘conservative voice’ on The View, she frequently supports the right-wing’s view on the issues. However, the Trump administration’s failure to seriously address the coronavirus has caused deep concerns about its competency.
“There’s an argument being made by some people that the press conferences shouldn’t be being covered,” McCain explained. “My argument for keeping the press conferences is I think we’re at a place where President Trump — he’s always been a sort of totalitarian president in a way that we’ve never historically seen before. And my fear is that he’s going to play on the American public’s fears in a draconian way and possibly do something akin to the Patriot Act where he uses this moment in time to play off our fears for his own benefit.
“I think seeing front and center what he and his team — I for one became even more fearful of what was happening when I saw how inept Jared Kushner was. So, while he has a team of doctors like Dr. Fauci that we are all in agreement is doing a great job, my fear is that this is a moment in time that can be manipulated by the powers and the government in place. I want to see front and center what he’s saying no matter how ridiculous some of the press conference commentary.”
If find her comments extremely interesting. I am one of those who believe that covering Trump’s uninformative and self-serving “briefings” is a waste of time. However, Ms. McCain makes a point.
Trump’s words and actions remind me of an old adage: “give a man enough rope and he will hang himself.” Trump might never have been impeached if he had not admitted and revealed the now infamous phone call between himself and Ukraine President Zelinsky.
Trump, who knows nothing about the law or public service, cannot resist bragging about his actions whether they are legal or illegal. He simply doesn’t care. Trump is an egomaniac and a narcissist. He is mentally deficient and should be removed from office with the use of article 25. Sadly, Republicans fail to have the courage to do the right thing for America. Each of them lied when they took their oath office.
Trump is the biggest failure in American history. For more than three years, he has refused to learn how to perform the duties of his position, or to present himself as a formerly respected President of the United States of America.
