How do Voters Feel about the Hypocrites who Abandoned the Republican Party and became the Trump Party?

Collins (3)

This story may give us some insight into the November election. For more than three years today’s Republican Party in name only has allowed Trump to violate the Constitution, institute fascist policies, add trillions of dollars to the national debt, waste taxpayer money to live the life of a billionaire, lie to the American people, alienate our closest allies, and make our nation the laughing stock of the free world. In November, a large number of the ‘Trump Party’ are asking for your vote. Why would you give it to them?

If the people of Maine are typical of today’s American voters, the right-wing is in serious trouble. The issue is the reelection of Senator Susan Collins.

A little recent history. Early in 2017 voters had reason to feel optimistic about the 67-year-old, four-term Senator. When Trump, Moscow Mitch McConnell, and Lyin Paul Ryan attempted to repeal Obamacare and place a hastily written healthcare plan, which would have removed medical care from about 24 million Americans, three Republicans voted against “Trumpcare:” Lisa Murkowski, John McCain, and Susan Collins.

However, although Collins had represented herself as a ‘champion of women’s rights,’ including abortion, she voted to confirm Brett Kavanaugh for a position on the Supreme Court. Kavanaugh was accused of sexual assault by Dr. Christine Blasey Ford. This became the first huge nail in her ‘coffin.’

Since that time, she has voted according to the orders issued by Trump and Moscow Mitch. She ignored a preponderance of evidence and refused to remove Trump from office after he was impeached. To this day she continues to defend the worst president in history. And the people of Maine have noticed this fact.

In a recent poll, Collins trails Maine House Speaker Sara Gideon by nine points, 51-42 in the upcoming election.

Maine’s primary will be on July 14th. However, this poll also reveals that although Gideon is the current Democratic frontrunner, voters will cast their ballots for whichever Democrat wins the primary, 49-39 percent.

Coronavirus (2)

The final nails in her coffin come from Trump’s failure to lead the fight against the coronavirus, and her party’s defense of Trump’s biggest failure to date. Her overall approval rating has dropped to 36 percent, while her disapproval rating is 52 percent. This is crucial because 79 percent of Maine’s voters claim that “their minds are made up.” The “fat lady” is warming up.
